Terms of Use

By using this site you accept the terms below. They are short, because the site is simple: it is a set of static reference pages with no accounts and no transactions.

What this site is

Pinchwell publishes ingredient substitution information compiled from published sources, which are named and linked on each page. It is general reference material.

It is not advice about your specific dish, your ingredients or your health. We have not cooked your recipe and cannot see what is in your kitchen.

Accuracy, and its limits

We work to a stated editorial policy and a stated sourcing hierarchy, and we record our corrections. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and you can check it.

It is not a guarantee. Ingredients vary by brand, region, age and how they are measured; sources sometimes disagree, and sometimes they are wrong. Where we know of a disagreement we publish it rather than resolving it silently. Cooking with a substitute always carries some risk that the result differs from the original, which is why every page tells you what will change.

Allergens and dietary restrictions. Do not rely on this site to determine whether a food is safe for you. Product formulations change and manufacturing practices differ. Check the label on what is actually in your hand, and if the stakes are medical, ask someone qualified.

Liability

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the information here — including a dish that did not work.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Using our content

  • Reading, printing and sharing links: yes, freely, including in a professional kitchen or a classroom.
  • Quoting a short passage with attribution and a link: yes.
  • Republishing pages, or bulk extraction of the substitution data by any automated means: no, without written permission.

The compilation, the ratios as presented, the page structure and the site’s design are ours. The underlying facts are not, and are not claimed to be. Where we quote a source, that source’s rights are its own.

We link to sources and, in future, may link to retailers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Any commercial link will be disclosed under our affiliate disclosure.

These terms may change. The reviewed date at the top reflects the last substantive change, and we do not back-date it.
