Privacy
The short version
Pinchwell is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins, no newsletter, and no forms that send us anything. As of the date at the top of this page, no analytics and no advertising are running on this site, and no tracking script is loaded on any page.
What we collect directly
Nothing, with one exception you control: if you write to contact@pinchwell.com, we have your email and whatever you put in it. We use it to answer you and to fix whatever you reported. We do not add you to anything.
What the search box does
Site search runs entirely in your browser. When you search, your browser downloads a small index file and matches against it locally. Your search terms are not sent to us as search terms, and there is no server that could receive them — the site is static files.
Your query does appear in the page URL (/search/?q=...), which means it will be in
our host’s standard request logs like any other URL. When analytics is enabled, it
will also be recorded there — see below.
What our host records
The site is served by a hosting provider, which keeps standard server logs: IP address, time of request, the page requested, referrer and user-agent. This is ordinary web-server operation and happens for every site you visit. We use it only to keep the site running.
What will change, and when
This site is intended to carry advertising eventually, and to use analytics to understand which pages answer people’s questions. Neither is running yet. When they are switched on:
- Analytics. Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, with IP anonymisation enabled. We will record which page was viewed and what type of page it is. We will also record site searches, including ones that returned nothing — that is how we decide what to write next.
- Advertising. Google AdSense or a comparable network, which sets its own cookies and is governed by its own privacy policy.
- A consent manager will be in place before either loads, and this page and the Cookies page will be updated on the same day. The date at the top of this page will change when they do.
Your rights
Because we hold essentially nothing, there is usually nothing to request. If you have written to us and want that correspondence deleted, ask at the address above and we will delete it.
Once analytics is running, you can opt out at the consent manager, and your browser’s “do not track” and cookie controls apply as normal.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone.
Changes to this page
Material changes will be reflected in the reviewed date at the top. We do not back-date it.
